If I'm looking for a specific page on the site, I'm going to be confused and frustrated if a busy page with a bunch of links pops up, or a page that looks identical to the homepage ("what's this? I didn't want the homepage!"). I prefer a simple, friendly message with a redirect. If you want to use the page to promote some products, fine, but keep it simple.
